Welcome to the Lewiston Middle School Drama Club
"The stage is a magic circle where only the most real things happen... A truer and more real place does not exist in the universe." - P.S. Baber, Cassie Draws The Universe
Hello LMS community!
The stage is indeed a magic circle, and in the spirit of all of us being in that circle together I wanted to share with you this exciting news: For its first show of the year, the Drama Club will be producing a one-act comedy by Alan Haehnel called Caution: Politricks. It is a well-reviewed, widely produced TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) script about two factions of a community (The Leftists and The Rightists) who see the same thing in very, very different ways. Similar to Dr. Seuss' The Butter Battle Book or The Lorax, the play is a piece that is written for young people but that is looking at adult dynamics in funny, engaging ways.
I'm super excited about this production, and the opportunities for our kids in physical comedy, satire, and theatre for diversity and social justice all at the same time. I'm also very excited to be hosting "talk-backs" after each performance: a talk-back is a chance for the cast and crew to participate in guided discussion and conversation with the audience about what they saw, what the process was like, and what theatre means to all of us.
More to follow as we go forward, and thanks in advance for your support for this production!
